Digital Cinema topic, I have found some information that might be useful for outputting the 2048x1536 or 1280x1024 frames to film at frame rates faster than 1fps directly to 35mm color print stock, some people using condensed back lighting for LCD computer monitors and using them to build high resolution projectors. If one was to use this idea and increase the light source to about 2000 watts, and heat filter the light, one might be able to focus the light through the LCD with a large lens into the 35mm movie camera's lens and get enough light to shoot 35mm print stock directly at frame rates from 1 to 4 frames per second, the limit then becomes how fast you can load the 2048x1536 frames from the harddisk into the video board. At a frame rate of two frames per second you can film record 2000 feet in less that one day! That means one might not need to make a printing negative to make a few release prints.

Here are some links about back lighting LCD monitors:

Very interesting...

My production company has been looking at the RED camera for an upcoming project.

This is way down the road (a project shooting in summer 2008) and we'd be doing either a 2k or 4k cut of the film, and then displaying with digital projection for the most part and acquiring a few film prints for key festivals. The RED will have either proved itself or died quietly by the time we shoot, so we'll see how it goes.
