I love shooting comedies, especially with witty actors. But with my camera I just realized that I can pull off drama with a greater degree of believability than a lot of other people. So that's my new route for now.
I prefer a really odd style that's kind of hard to describe. The best I've heard yet, to describe it, is bizarre, absurd stuff, taken totally seriously as though it were in the drama/thriller genre.

i always shoot comedy, it's kinda hard to make drama work with my "budget" and i have some friends who would not be great dramatic actors, but have a natural charming ability to do comedy.
and i like your reason mark, making people laugh is the best.
I've only shot two films as a Director, and so far it seems to be Drama - Experimental films that decore my uniform. I've written alot of comedy but it seems that if I try to do a comedy, as in forcing myself I come to a lack of confidence in it's potential - while most of the time when I write (comedy) it seems better when it's not forced into being. That being said, I intend on doing a comedy-drama (dramedy?) now based on a druggy-adaption of a scene from Romeo and Juliet... who knew the Friar wanted Romeo in that way?

"My world succeeds this one..." - the instant the lightning strikes the tower... everything will be fine.
None of the above. I feel closest to science fiction in its true form, but I also like extending into the horror idiom (especially when it interpenetrates SF and experimental), and drama underlies all film forms.
That said, I do want to do a quick/cheap comedy at some point, and an exploitation flick has been in the works for a while...
I've never shot a good horror movie... Ironically, I love shooting horror. I've shot one really short and poorly concieved horror flick, but I've written probably a dozen that are decent.
I happen to be good at shooting comedies, but don't enjoy it as much as horror.
I guess I'm somewhere around comedy/horror. A happy medium between the two is fun to do if it's well written.

I voted comedy only because it is pretty much all I've done at this point. Due to poor equipment and unproffesional actors, I think comedy it is the best option. When done properly, it is just as good as any drama or horror. I do however hope to get into some heavy dramas and action film in the near future.

When working with a competant team, I really enjoy making horror movies. But when its just me, comedy is definately the more enjoyable genre to work in. Though I have always wanted to make a scifi movie...
I like a good action story with dramatic tie ins and the wittiest dialogue I come come up with. I like witty verbal puns that takes a trained ear to pick up on. Cause then when you watch your own movie, you can silently laugh to yourself, and if anyone else gets it, thats cool too.

My biggest problem is that... if I'm making a more comedic film, I really, really want to be more serious or dramatic when it's actually in full scale production.
Sammmmmme when I do something more dramatic too (only want to shoot comedy) but, I can usually get away with it better. I can put jokes into the drama. I simply can't do the other way around when shooting something comedic, unless it were a serious film that didn't take it self entirely seriously.
"Your girlfriend will find someone better. You will become homeless. And you know whats worse...? You will still suck at Tekken."
I'll shoot any genre of film (I've shot everything from suspense thriller to action to comedy to drama). But my most favorite is action films. I love working with the crews to figure out how to rig up a new stunt, I love exploding things and I love doing vehicle chase scenes. I just find action films to be the most challenging for me because they keep both me and my crew on our toes. But hey thats just me.
Drama's what I do naturally, also where I go to school it's (almost) the least common done one (if you count music videos seperately)...but in reality A LOt of people do drama... so I want to incorporate morecomedy into my work. Horror- just as itself it sorta trashy to me... because the good horror movies were not straight up HORROR- but story driven drama that scared people... but yeah drama.
