The thing with polls is they are mearly a catalyst for discussion, I could have included the french short "C' Était Un Rendezvous" by Claude Lelouch which would have to be in the top 3, or any episode of the "Dukes of hazard",
the poll is more about getting you guys to post your opinions, and after 5 pages we can then make a short list Smile

Is it coincidental that you have mentioned two fine car chases both by the same director, or is your last name Friedkin? Smile
good choices all the same Razz

definitely the one in The Bourne Identity. My dad made me watch The French Connection, claiming it had an excellent car chase scene, but once we were done watching it, we realized how outdated it was compared to modern cinema chase scenes. Very boring chase I must say, but I guess it was "exciting" when it was theatrically released.

I considered saying Bourne Identity, but something about that film's style just irritates me. It WAS good, but it was annoying too. You want to shout out "Get a steadicam for goodness sakes!" half way through Wink

That is interesting Trespasser, as I am the oposite, I like the raw footage style of the original gone in "60 seconds", crikey, you can see camera's on cars, camera's on roads, even camera's on sticks Smile if the shot looked good they put it in.
Compare that chase sequence with something like, the first side by side street drag by the 2 ricers in The fast and the furious 1, which has been processed to an inch of its life (but still enjoyable to watch) the 2 styles are quite seperate, both extremly entertaining, but personaly I prefer the raw over the slick, it may be because as a film industry person I like to see what we shot on the street not what was produced in a small room full of buttons Razz

That is funny, I wanted to say the same thing, doco style works for some things, but not a car chase, please.

Without French Connection up there, I can't vote. I've seen all of the other movies you listed and French Connection is the one that has stood the test of time.

Life is a Dream: Any criticisms you could give me would be appreciated.

The French Connection, hands down. That scene was so great, everytime I see it on TV, I HAVE to watch the entire chase. PArtly why it's so good is that half the stuff that happened in that chase really happened.

I've got a couple.
The chase in team America where they are in the jeeps and trying to catch the terrorists.
or
The chase in Ernest in the Army where the terrorists are chasing him and he is throwing land mines at them over his head.
or
What about that episode of Simpsons where Flanders and his family were chasing Homer because hed been skipping church.

One more that springs to mind in an obsure kind of way is the motor bike chase in Dudley Do-Right.
I don't know what they did for a tracking vehicle, but it is way impessive.
Peter.

I chose other. Matrix Reloaded, I think, had the best and probably the longest car chase scene in a film. 17 minutes of mayhem. The highway you see was created just for that action sequence somepace in the desert near outside California. Insane.
