I do think those sections could be useful, but if you look at the classifieds forum it's not really jammed up with posts. What might be even cooler is a monster.com style listing. Where people can post their skills and locations, and others can search the database. I'd be willing to give it a crack on the programming side if it's something Chris thinks would be cool. | PerryKroll.com | TRC | "If not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled." A search engine would be a useful tool, but that won't really help the issue, what you need is to encourage people to talk about those discussions, not add a search engine to an already water downed system known as the classifieds.
Let's say someone happens to stroll into these forums for the first time and just so happens to have the desire to act in films and he lives in a small town somewhere in Utah. At the same time a student director is looking to cast in his home town but theres a problem, actors in his small town somewhere in Utah are scarce and there really isn't any material to find them. So, as the actor scrolls through the list of topics, along with the director, the actor see's topics on directing films and a film director's classifeied but nothing that reminds him that he could act in these films, so he moves on. And that poor student director in that deserted town lost his only hope to find an actor hence his little brother staring in his film(that is if he has family).
Imagine that same scenerio but for composers and crew members. Yeah your right, you already have it in the classifieds, but then again it's really a smorgasbord of topics, if you think those suggestions should just be lumped up together into some smorgasbord called the classifieds then I think your in the wrong field of work.
That's just my two cents, if you are happy with the classifieds then fine with me, I was just trying to make your life a whole lot easier.
As directors, I would consider this a high priority in your process in making films.

Yeah, yeah, I see, but there's almost nothing IN the classifieds section. True, it might pick up if this idea was carried out. What would be really good is if this small town actor from Utah could go to a separate section of the site (not in the forums), enter his location, age, description, and skills (lets say acting, improv and tap-dancing) into a database and also search for projects needing people like him in various states. The advantage of this is that you could limit the results to only actors or movies which meet your criteria and which are in your area. No wading through forums hoping people used good subjects and not things like "HELP LOLOL URGENT" That simple program (simple to use, not to write) could become HUGE in the student film world. | PerryKroll.com | TRC | "If not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled." Yeah! It would totally rock! I know I could program in in PHP - but it would be tough. | PerryKroll.com | TRC | "If not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled." Wodehouse
