I saw an ad for this during the Grammys. The deadline is only a few days away, but I figured some people here might be interested. This is a contest in which you need to make a movie that is no longer than five seconds. The coolest movie wins a Cadillac.

See website for more info. http://www.cadillacunder5.com/

Looks like a pretty cool contest. Some of the movies they had up were pretty funny, it'll be interesting to see what movies win.

honestly, i don't understand why movies take 2 hours nowadays. most of them get really boring and don't really need to be that long.

maybe if we forced more people to do 5 second movies, they would learn to appreciate simplicity and brevity.

Are those the entries though? I couldn't figure out if those are previous winners, current entries (would be weird to show them before end of contest), or just random five second movies they found somewhere.

Those are good questions... it would be weird to put them up early but this is the first time theyve done the contest as far as i know so they cant be past winners and random 5 second clips would also be strange... the intro to that section makes it sound like those are real entries... I guess we'll see (I hope they are cuz as i said they arent that good)

Maybe. I sure am, I have some awesome ideas, but can't get them off the ground fast enough.

I hope the site doesn't die at around 11:45 pm EST - the smithsonian site did when I was trying to enter their photo contest.

Alright so from what ive been told the site hasnt been updated since they first launuched it and all the films on there are just examples done in house. The explains their piss poor quality.

We filmed our 5 second short today, came out realy well. Once my interent stops messing up I'm going to upload it.

Well according to people on some other websites if you are a finalist you should have already been contacted. I was pretty confident about mine too. Oh well... maybe a small chance that they will call the rest tomorrow but i doubt it... so i guess i can post the link to it now
