all ive ever heard is that citizen kane is the greatest film ever. I dont think its the greatest, but I have a great appreciation and it is high on my list. I could easily hate it if this were the case of ppl just wanting to rebel. ive never talked to a single friend in person who hates LOTR. If anything being around friends who like it would make me wanna be like them and be the same (in a non-conformist sense). but no. u like it or u dont and some ppl cant handle not having everyone in agreement. the day a single film is loved by all is the day film has failed. Retrospan: well said and I agree with what you're getting at.
But the worst movie that I'VE seen this year in MY opinion is the Cat in the Hat. Terrible. Of all time for ME would be Master of Disguise.

i know a lot of work was probably put into these, but sheesh...
Leprehcan IV: In Space Alpha Kids Buffalo 66 (although this one is funny to laugh at sometimes, despite of (or because of) its pretentousness) chairman of the board
(dis)honourable mentions:
matrix: reloaded the hulk final fantasy: the spirits within (the animation saves this one) space cowboys star wars: episode II "attack of the clones"

I don't hate those movies because they become to big.
Okay... I guess Lord of the Rings and the matrix aren't THE WORST MOVIES EVER... I mean.... there are some pretty horrible ones...
BUT... They are definitly the most overrated... just because they look respectable. And it annoys the hell out of me that it's going to win best film when there are movies like Lost In Translation out there.
That whole point you brought up about the song "Gangster's paradise" is an EXCELLENT point... However.... in that situation... I'd be the person Hating The song while everyone liked it. Everyone getting mad at me.... Then everyone slowly seeing that i was right.

Did anyone ever see JACK FROST (not the michael keaton one) it was about a serial killer who came back as a snow man. So the whole movie was a snow man killing people.. he even rapes a girl...Theres also a sequel.. It takes place on a tropical Island... A SNOWMAN ON A 100 degree tropical island... anyway.. i never saw the second, but i think i have to just for curiosity.. Now im not saying this was the worst movie ever made.. actually i kinda liked it because it was such a B movie and funny...

Oh, actually i have seen Jack Frost AND Jack Frost 2. Jack Frost is freakin hysterical, and fyi,the girl Jack rapes is none other than Shannon Elizabeth. Jack Frost 2, while also hilarious, doesn't have the same spark that the original had, but of course neither of them can truly be considered "good" movies.

I think the worst movie idea would have to be "The Core" I've never seen it, never want to see it, but I want the guy who got the movie green-lighted on my side. How the hell do you pitch that idea and actually get the funding for it? Ah well. And Drew, I totally knew you were gonna say LOTR. When I saw your post I just couldn't help but LMAO. But honestly I'm trying to figure out if I think LOTR and Matrix sequels really were the worst movies IMO or if it was just cuz of the hype and then big disappointment at the end for me. One thing I know for sure, they were bad.

I respect the sound in this movie. Critics like it because it's not off the edge. But it's the most boring movie ever. I wanted to leave the theatre after like 20 minutes. I don't care if a movie is off the edge if it's entertaining, that doesnt necessarily matter. The movie sucked bad!

Love stinks w/ French stuart was the worst movie i've ever seen. Every aspect of it was awful. Dumb and Dumberer was pretty bad as well. The little short bus makes it just barely better than terrible tho. However I liked alot of the movies on everyones bad list, so i'm not the best judge of crap i guess.

cable guy was a hilarious film i still enjoy watching it. I don't know why so many people hate on it. I think this was one of jim carreys best flicks. If u want talk about bad movies you should mention Signs --What a disapointment. Aliens who can travel billions of light years to earth but do not know how to open doors and easily get killed with a baseball bat and glass of water. just swing away.
Buffalo '66 is a great film. very innovative.

I really liked Signs, but one thing sort of destroys the whole concept of the movie: Water kills aliens? I think they may have forgotten that there is water in the air. Or that the atmosphere is made out of (among other things) water. And I'm sure those corn fields the aliens were hiding out in for a week had sprinkler systems, or at least condensation...or even some form of water somewhere. I mean generally plants and H2o go hand in hand, know what I mean?
And the Core: It was dumb, but it wasn't horrable dumb. You know going in, just by the title, that it's gonna be retarded. But that in mind, it's ok. It's basically the low budget straight to video rip off version of Armageddon that somehow got into theaters. The worst part of it all was that the action they *did* show was cool, but they'd only show part of the it before cutting to the aftermath. Like the Golden Gate Bridge STARTS melting for 25 seconds, then they cut to a news segment saying "San Francisco was destroyed today"...and then they played stock footage of the San Francisco 1989 Earthquake. I felt so cheated.

you must have missed the part where it was said that they were only trying to scare people in areas
but the water thing is stupid...the only real flaw to the movie.

Quest for the Egg Salad. I know it's low budget, but I'm bored by every joke and every moment. Plus it's a pain in the ass trying to listen to people through rubber masks and quite frankly it's not worth the effort. And third, the editing was so bad it pissed me off because the complete lack of attention to pacing tells me they weren't trying very hard to do things right.
Oh, and Wizard of Oz because the story is poorly developed and there are huge gaping plot holes. That water and the witch thing came way out of right field.

Anyone who states a movie that has at least 1 little thing good (such as Citizen Kane?! LOTR? Or even Cat in the Hat (okay, horrid but not the worst..) must have only seen a few films to have such a poor grasp of a really bad movie.
I suggest you check out the Brotherhood, a film made with probrally a s-vhs camera, which consisted of 4 nearly empty sets, improved dialogue, 1 angle of each 10 minute scene, and somehow about 20 actors who were all $hity as hell, save for the teacher. Somehow I chose to drag through it all so that I could say I experienced the worst piece of cinema ever. EVER! You can actually get it in blockbuster. The other stink bomb is "Manos, the hands of Fate," but also funny to look at. I read in a review that in "Monster a Go-Go", (one of the worst rated films) the narrator actually makes fun of the audience for sticking with the film. Also, one of the actors makes the sound of the phone ringing while still on camera. I can't find that film anywhere. Halarious.
