Hey Guys, Mad
Right now I am editing on an laptop system. I have an extra monitor and a 19 Inch T.V. that I want to incorporate into my system. If I want to preview something that I have made on the computer on the t.v. I just hook the camera to the t.v. and then the camera to the laptop using firewire.
My problem is I would like to hook my Monitor to the laptop so I can have two monitors going at one and use it for real time in Premiere or Avid. My laptop has a monitor plug in on the back, but I have been told u need an extra video card or something? If anyone has done this or could please clarify that would be great.
Or if anyone has some cool ideas for editing with the equipment I have, like set ups or whatever, I would love to hear em.
Thanks

hahah ok guys,

I got the monitor running on my laptop, but it runs whatever is on my laptop screen. I want it to be like one huge monitor instead, so i can put a preview screen on one monitor and the timeline on my laptop monitor! This is where its getting hard for me!

Most laptops won't let you do that. They will only let you "mirror" what is on your laptop screen.

I know that the new Apple Powerbooks have "real" dual monitor capability.

I'm not sure about PCs.

Chris is absolutely right, the new Apple G4 Powerbooks can do multi-monitor support.

I've recently sold my PC and got the 12" one ... mostly because of the price!

I've had this thing hooked up to a TV and got an excellent picture quality from it ... but it did automatically drop the screen res down from 1024x768 to 640x480. It changed it back once I disconnected the adaptor.

The 12" model also comes with a standard 15pin VGA adaptor, which allows mirroring of the screen so that it displays the same on both, multi-monitor support and of course deactivating the LCD screen in favour of the external monitor.

Too bad I had to spend £1600 to get one though!

sell your pc and buy a real editing machine. You'll love an Apple G4. I have three.

I know on certain desktop PCs you can link two displays with a card, i dont know if you can do it on a laptop though.

Hey Irony,

Be a pal and stow it. I was merely clarifying a point that Chris made ... keep your abuse to yourself or you'll never get anywhere.
