i have a problem, some guy came to me who wants me to work for him during the summer. heres the deal, he takes people on fishing trips some lasting up to 24 hours. he has GL2's set up all around his boat so it can record the moments of the fishing trips. how on earth am i going to record 24 hours of footage on a boat? price isnt really an issue here. any ideas? thanks

Keep on changing tapes? Smile Seriously though, how many cameras?

You can stagger them by starting them 5 minutes apart so that there will always be at least one camera running.

you could try and hook them up directly to a hardrive and just capture straight into the comp. But i think youd need a computer for each camera, unless you know a way to capture more than 1 stream at once. Otherwise the only way i know to make it work would be lots and lots of dv tape (like chris said). I'd be more worried about having to edit it all together.

permanetly run one camera on LP, and just replace the tapes in it when need be

hook up the other cameras to a lanc(or sim) system (im not sure what control protocols gl2s have)

Have lots of caffinne and sugar, run a room or area on the boat with a tv monitors and the lanc controlers for the other cams., then remotely hit record on the cameras when action happens, and replace tapes when need be.

I didn't get the impression from your original post that you had to document every second of this fishing trip - just when something happens. Get a friend and 2 or 3 cameras and wait in the cabin until they get a bite, then hurry out and start recording. You'll probably have to stay up for nearly 24 hours, but if you have more people you can take shifts.

yah you really dont want 3 cameras with 24 hours of footage, espieally for a stupid 10 minute fishing trip highlight reel. As others have said, just go out when there is action and swap the poop deck while you wait Smile
