Film (for standard movment) shoots, and plays at 24fps (frames per second) Video, in the Sates (NTSC) shoots at 30fps, but overseas in PAL format, cams shoot at 25fps, giving it a closer to film look.

The 24p gives motion a slight blur, we associate with film, and do not achieve with standard video. This is what makes the Panosonic AG-DVX100 so cool. It shoots true 24p, giving your footage a realistic film look. The Canon XL1, and GL2 have a simulator in "movie mode" that looks pretty descent, but is nothing next to the real thing.

film 24 fps
video 29.97 fps with 525 horizontal lines of resolution with a 1:33:1 aspect ratio or just 4:3

What I believe in isn't scary, it's what I don't believe in that is.
