Hi there.

I am working on a short film and would really appreciate feedback.

Its a work in progress and still requires compositing of 3d and 2d SFX but any tips of suggestions to improve it as it stands so far would be really appreciated.

I hate to be a douche, and maybe it's only because you haven't added your effects yet, but i dont get what this is about... I know you call it "experimental," but i hardly think that that excuses the fact that i am now 6 minutes older, and have nothing to show for it... Art has to mean something. Your film has to mean something. The mark of a good non-narrative/experimental film, is that the viewer leaves the experience enriched, even if they may have to work to get anything out of it. If you simply make a film or a painting, or music simply because it looks of sounds cool, you are basically masturbating, and it comes off as cold and hollow and pretentious. It is a hard hump for beginning filmmakers to get over, but nobody wants to see you masturbate....

on the bright side, i though that your locations were quite creepy, and the lighting in the warehouse was very good. As far as technical aspects go, it was pretty good.

Thanks for the post.

Yep I totally appreciate it doesnt make sense and you cant see the point. It was just technical feedback that I am really seeking and i give thanks for your input.

To clarify for other viewers that might stumble accross it:

The film will contain motiff of re-occuring graffiti from the opening sceens and right the way through.

Only at the end is it revealed through flashback that the character is living through de ja vue throughout. He thus cant determine were the point of reality and illusion is.

The grafitti will be on the street scene at the start in what is perceived to be his normality. The wall in the first part of the dvd he is watching and in the warehouse after he has merged into the movie he was watching.

The guy who he walks past at the start which will be the credit sequence is the same guy thats in the movie and will have a demonic demon effect applied to him. The DVD is delivered to him twice also in another deja vue moment.

He will recall this at the end because the motiff and duplication of events is intentionally subtle until the end.

An animated character is also going to appear at key stages including the end sequence at the window to emphasise the blurring of the virtual and perceived normality of the actors reality.

Yep its not the greatest story ever told but the project is really on technique as I am not a script writer and we get zero marks for narrative aspects. I just put a basic narrative in to avoid it being too abstract.

In honesty its not really for publication just needed to get it out there as part of my research element of the project.

Hope this clarifies things a little.... Wink
