I posted some stills from my current short film on my site. Shot on a Scoopic with Tri-X and a single fluorescent practical inside. Editing and working on sound now. Any comments appreciated.

I love that great soft feel it has to it, very surreal like. What's the story behind this?

No filters actually - a Scoopic with a somewhat scratched/slightly hazy lens, indoor shooting at a wide f/stop, and Tri-X combined to give a naturally soft look Wink

The lens may be misadjusted also. I have a suspicion that the markings are slightly behind the actual focus point.

Very cool! I like the job done on the hand.

For the face abbrasions, just before the latex has dried, take a knife and make some cuts through it. It looks a little pasted on and that will help it look a little more real. Honestly I don't know what your after with it, so this is just a tip you probably already know!

Looks great!

Have you won any festivals yet? Or do you even bother submitting? I'm just curious.

It's currently submitted to the Ivy Film Festival and DVDs (Discarded Body, Survival Record, and Silence) are going to Cannes later this week. I entered 'Survival Record' in Sundance, where it was rejected Wink

I've always wondered, if you submit a film to a festival and it costs, let's say, $30.00 and the film is rejected, do you get your money back?`

damn no filter? I love the look of old, ****ed up lenses. I just shot a pick up with an arri S (we couldnt afford any better cameraSmile and the footage was some random, documentary style stuff in china town. we got something back that looks very much like 70's film making (we also desaturated it in the transfer). I loved it. And it was also refreshing to get away from ultra Primes and other top notch lenses that give you such a sharp, commercial look.

I agree that sharp and too commercial can be sterile. OTOH sometimes I do want a fairly sharp picture Wink I think the lens was collimated improperly or something on the Scoopic. Tri-X is also not the sharpest film in the world, although for some reason there is not much visible grain.

My brother uses an Arri S... I think it looks pretty damn sharp with the Schneider primes. Obviously not like a new XTRprod with Zeiss glass, but still better than my $200 cameras.

My next film is going to be shot on a Super 16 modified Bolex with Switar and TTH primes... should look somewhat sharper than this Wink
