Just wondering. For a film idea I have I need my character to get a hold of a gun somehow. I live in the UK and it will be set in the UK so its more complex than going into a wall mart in america.
How would a character who is a regular guy get a hold of a gun? I heard about converting replicas but I know nothin about how its done.

Perhaps he has a friend or relative who has connections to the black market. He can shyly approach this friend to hook him up. You know like a knows a guy who knows a guy sought of thing.
Maybe he steals it off a police officer? I know uk police don't carry it on thier person but don't they have them in their cars?

Does the gun have to be REAL? If so, I'd suggest you re-write your script - a real gun poses way too many safety problems (not to mention law-problems) then you'll want to deal with. If it doesn't have to be real, is airsoft allowed in the UK.
