dvinfo.net has a bunch of info about canon cameras, and a forum devoted to all things XL2

Yeah it comes with one but the info is limited, I wanted to know more about unsqueezing a shot and if i can purchase lenses that will avoid having to do it in editing.

You must "unsqueeze" in post. The chip is native 16:9, but that must be squashed to 4:3 to comply with DV NTSC format.

Lenses are not the issue.

it is recorded onto the tape in widescreen format. in post production(i am expecting you to have at least Vegas, FCP or Premier if you have such a nice camera) the software will automatically put it in 16:9, if you select widescreen mode when you start your project.

for more info on widescreen there is a number of topics on the boards, have a read of them if you want more info.

Native wide screen is one of the big PLUSES of that camera!! If you wanted to shoot native 4:3 you should have bought a different camera.

And there is not XL2S... its just XL2.
