I just watched the indie documentary "My Date With Drew" where the director goes on a quest to meet Drew Barrymore in 30 days. Awesome movie! I'm interested in doing something similiar with a different celebrity, how would I go about getting started, and what are my chances of pulling something like that off? (i mean if Tila Tequila can become the most popular friend on myspace then I should be able to accomplish my own goals, right?)

There's no chance of you getting on MTV unless you advertise sex and degeneration in every two minutes of your work...and Id be pretty embarassed to be a part of any "reality" TV that has been poisoning brains for the last 15 years. stray away from it bro, trust me. Chances are you have a heart and coudl really make a more credible doc ratehr than sucking on some celebs fame...those celebs, esp Barrymore, are crap. I bet you have a load of friends or people that live around you that have much more intesting stories. turn your camera on them. Make a story that is a part of your life, not some fake celebrity that lives on TV all day already. There's so many hidden sounds out there.

I'm not trying to recreate Tila Tequilla status. I'm just saying that if she can make herself popular, then so can my documentary.

well no ****. but that tila character is pop for being a wh ore. she's not really herself, and there's no such thing as popularity, only disease.

anyones work can become "liked" or "found" or whatever, but that part doesnt matter, the point is to make something you wanna make. there's no such thing as popular.

You're missing the point. The success of "My Date With Drew" documentary is that he created a website to tell people of his intention to meet Drew Berrymore, and that caused people to visit his site and give him tips. The popularity of the site, and his documentary, caught the attention of Drew Berrymore's publicist. That's what I want to recreate. Get off of Tila!

im just saying that those celebs dont need anymore publicity, and whatever celeb you think youre gonna make a film about isnt gonna really be that interesting, and itll look like you're just another bozo paparazi who cant find an original story so keeeps making news about the same bozo people that are on TV everyday that no one cares about.

Usually when some random person finds a loophole to fame ("My Date With Drew") there are immediately dozens of others imitating them to hopefully ride on the lucky person's coattails. Unfortunately, these kinds of people normally end up just hitting brick walls/glass ceilings, whatever you want to call them.

To make something similar to My Date With Drew would take a LOT of dedication and a LOT of drive: much more than could be derived from simply wishful hopes for attention and fame. In order to have the force to drive this sort of project, your motivation for making it really has to come from the fact that you WANT to tell something or you WANT to create something. Nothing else is going to keep you inspired.

So first you have to decide that this is THE story and THE project that you want the most. And all Kyle is really telling you is that it probably isn't...

So I would reevaluate where you stand, and if you decide this is something you are really passionate about, then we can begin discussing advertisement techniques and methods to get in contact with celebrities.

this makes me sound like kind of a downer but dont you think it might be better to come up with your own idea for a film instead of copying someone elses i know that sounds alittle crazy but its just a thought

This is a really really bad idea, you are just copying some guy's gimmick, there must be hunderds of others already copying this same idea out there in internetland.

I wouldn't delve into the reality of today, cuz its pretty much as fake as the Tila Tequila chick (but i understand your point to instant fame, but why?). I would just do some simple research into something that sounds interesting enough for people to watch your documentary, and get some response off of that. Isnt that what a doc is about? Getting people to open their eyes...
Good luck on finding a story, it's there, u just have to open your eyes.

the only point in making movies is to dwelve into the reality around you, what else is possible? thats all you can do. or maybe im just thinking of an easy way

I wasn't refering myself to be someone to distance my self from reality (not reality shows), it's the reality shows of today that are so fake, destroyable, gullable, ****-up, that I thought it best not to even try to revive REAL reality shows in todays global community.
