Hello. My name is Thomas Verrette and I am an aspiring film directer. I am a senior in high school. I have made a good number of films (about 16), most of which I wrote myself. They range from 6 minutes to my latest film which is a 90 minute feature entitled THE LOST SOLDIERS that takes place in Vietnam in 1968. I consider that my best film to date and would post it on this site except for the fact that it is only an hour over the limit! lol. However I am getting ready to post the Trailer and a scene from it soon.
Anyways, the reason for this post is this. I have written all of my movies so far that I have done. I was wondering if any of you guys out there just want to be screenwriters. I would like to see how much different it is trying to make a film which you did not write since I imagine that is how most directors get thier work. So if anyone out there has an screenplays they would like to get made into movies I would glady do it if i find them interesting. Another thing. I am not trying to be cocky or anything but I do think my films are very good and most other people do to, inculding the head of the film department at Savannah College of Art and Design who awarded me a scholarship on THE LOST SOLDIERS. I am going there by the way this fall 2003.

Thanks.

Since I work a full-time job (not in the entertaiment industry!) that pays for my filmmaking and theatre hobby, I seriously doubt filmmaking will be my main source of income.

However, I'm a much better writer than a filmmaker (one short film to filmmaking credits, and another short will be shot this summer). I have had several short plays produced locally and have plenty of scripts to choose my short film projects from - I just need to convert them from stage to screen. That said, I could see me selling a script long before being asked to direct or crew on a film!

I'm not totally sure if I could film someone else's work - or if I want to. I can relate to what I write though, and would find it easier to visualize to film than someone else's script.

I'm not sure where your interests lie, but I have plenty of short scripts - mostly comedies or "dramadies" - between five and fifteen minutes. If you're interested in doing one, let me know. It might be interesting to see how someone else interprets my thoughts!

Good luck and congrats on the Savannah School of the Arts Scholarship. Interesting coincidence - the gentleman who wrote the original music for my short film, resides in Greensboro and graduated from Savannah a year or so ago.

Small world!

Thank you. Yeah that is weird. But yeah, I am interested in some of your stuff. You consider yourself a better writer than a director and I consider myself a better director than writer so maybe it will work out for the better! If you could email me some of your ideas you had that would be great, or reply to this message I guess on here. Thanks.
