Ok
1) I have no doubt that the people chosen will be good filmmakers
2)I KNOW I'm not good enough to get chosen for this show.
What I, and presumably everyone else who agrees with me is saying is that talented student and amateur filmmakers with talent are going to be taken advantage of, probably with the usual drama bit. They're going to get pidgeon holed and ripped apart by America. You really think if someone does something truly daring or different America will choose them?
Remember, Norbit was number one at the box office.

Not to sound pretentious, but I was thinking the same thing. Where are all the unique voices with unique stories to tell? Where are all the angry youth?

Haha well put. Criticism is much easier than creation. And lazier.
But that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.

I'm in the process of creating right now. Doesn't mean I can't speak my mind.

Ryan, I saw your film. Good explosion. Nicely done. Good sound effects, terrible location sound. Good reveal when his friend wasn't there. Story was awkward, motivation was nonexistent (would you just walk away from your exploded car?). And the line "this is gay" will guarantee that you won't even be considered. Know your audience, man. Just wanted to give an honest review. You can always learn from criticism. Feel free to be equally critical of my submission: http://films.thelot.com/films/957By the way, your website is incredible. Really professional-looking. If only the films matched. ---------------------------------- "Cinema is the most beautiful fraud." - Jean-Luc Godard ========================== www.mmrempen.com

You know I am not sure that I really like the profanity that exists in this title "Here comes Steven Spielberg to **** all over Film. Because arguably he is probably the greatest film maker of all time. And has never had a failing film ever. And just like Indiana Jones In The Last Crusade. This film will be just as good and if not better because I am sure that Steven will get his way in the post production room. Thats where it will all count. But I talk about all perspectives on my site so check it out at www.filmperspective.com

Neither do I. I changed it to be a bit more appropriate. Hope that's better.

What are you talking about? We're discussing his American Idol like reality show not one of his films. Can we expect this sort of clarity on your website? And profanity ****ing rules!

Thanks for changing the title of the thread, it was really bothering me too. Also, if you could, change some of the opinions I had in my earlier posts. I don't know what I was thinking say some of those harsh things. Spielberg is always fantastic and I especially love his films that don't have profanity. Things that are safe for everyone, and things everyone can agree on are the best things I think. I especially like my movies that way. I hate profanity and violence, which is why I was surprised when The Departed won best picture. Departed? Excuse my french but more like Defarted! Anyway, I've really changed my outlook on this thing. On the Lot should be a fantastic way for people to get some really great work out to the public. And I'm sure Fox and Spielberg will make sure only the best, most artistic things get through, and censor out any violent trash. Be cool guys, Larry

Oh yeah, no hard feelings Larry. Sure we had our differences in the past but I'm glad you reconsidered. To film!
But that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.

Um, I think you two missed the blatant sarcasm of Larry's post... or perhaps I wrongfully assumed his post was sarcastic. Wow, internet communication can be confusing at times.

I caught the sarcasm, and I really don't appreciate it. I'm not censoring any opinions and have not made any effort to stop this discussion from going on. I didn't feel like it was necessary for the title to be profane, and since at least one member agreed with me, I changed it. Nervous Larry: nobody is trying to get you to change your outlook. People have a tendency to disagree with each other over the course of a discussion, and there's no point in taking offense to it. This discussion may carry on as long as the rudeness and attitude is kept to a minimum.
