Best week ever!

Hey all just wanted to put myself over and announce that I'm graduating Saturday! Bachelor of Art in Digital Motion Picture! (Ya know what’s sad is that I had to spell check Bachelor)

Plus I got nominated for my schools student award show for best short film (there were 6 entries they nominated the top three) and for composting. I find out tonight at the award show if we(cast and crew!) won. You can see all the films at www.cpcfusionawards.com (super low-res oh well mine is film number 2 called "Worry Wart") and finally I also found out I got into the Los Gatos film festival and the short is playing on the big screen for an actual paying audience!!!

Anyway I'm still poor, my cat weighs 22 pounds, I believe he has diabetes and according to WebMD I either have scurvy or generalized anxiety disorder.

Continue to make movies. Well after a soul crippling post graduation slump of course.

And for an update: I WON FOR BEST SHORT at the student award show!!! Got a nice little statuette and a big head for like 10 minutes, until I remembered my gas light had gone off on the way to the awards show and I had to figure out how to get home. Plus the pawn shops were closed and I don't think they take student film awards.

Anyway Jerry I made sure I slowed down ths week and actually enjoyed graduating, the whole ritual of it and the feeling of accomplishment. A degree is by no means a doorway to a great career but it proves you can set and obtain a goal. So my next goal is to keep creating work, and stay away from heroin and anything and anyone "hyphee".

In the mean time I'm going to the Festival Worry Wart is playing at on Thursday, I'm starting post on a music video I shot two weeks ago and I'm starting preproduction on another music video that we a got a $2,000 budget on (not a great price but it's a step up for me!)

Graduation was a GREAT experience and well worth all the hard work we all put into the grind.

Congratolations!!!!

So you will be working freelance as a director? (or editor, or cameraman or...) Because most people with "normal" jobs just go out to find a good paying job for them out of school and going to work... in your case, thats not so easy because no company will hire you to direct (yet). So you must gain experience, but meanwhile paying all your expensives... you need money too... so i find that bit of a problem: what to do out of school (the normal "going find a good job" is not really the case with filmmakers).

Oh well.. you just graduated and iam talking about money.... sorry!!!! Your absolutely right, you must enjoy this! and it IS a archiefment!!

When you are done celebration, its soon enough to wipe my quistions away.

Jerry

yes and great "quistions" they were. I actually work full time as a graphic designer for a nonprofit! Not great money (32k a year) but a flexable schedule that allows me to work on independent projects and from time to time have food! i was doing 30hrs a week and school fulltime now that I've graduated I'm bumping up to 40 hours.

And I'm pretty sure the only way I'll break into a good directing gig is through a good script and a few good shorts, possibly an extortion scheme on a CAA agent. And i'm aware PA's don't become directors so f*ck going to NY or LA to pull cable on The View. The Bay Area where I live has a nice little indy scene and I'm desperatly trying to get involved!

And if that dosn't work out I think I'll get into plastics.
