Who are some of the notable alumni from Chapman’s film program? I can’t seem to find this anywhere.

It's a new program, friend. I don't believe they yet have a single notable alumnus/a. That's what sucks about being a pioneer: you have to pioneer stuff.

I was only asking. Don’t take it so personally. This is directly from the Chapman website: The School of Film and Television was founded in 1996. Not exactly new.

did anyone take it personally? I'm sorry you took it that ways-- I thought AI's comment was just a fun way of saying no one... yet

11 years is actually painfully new for a film school. Most notable programs are 40 years plus.

I could tell you notable alumni who've studied under our professors (they won't have come from Chapman mostly), or notable professors even, but if you think about it-- a grad program takes three years to complete--so thats less that 10 years of producing alums.

Take that and factor in how long it takes a new program to become stable/noticed maybe 3-5 years (I worked in administration in Academia before coming back to grad school). 5 years ago- I DEFINITELY would not have noticed Chapman.

So I'd say approximately 4 years ago is when they noticed they were becoming successful and the university started putting major money into the program. Made the plan for Knott studios, acquired strong faculty, etc.

Minus again 2-3 years to graduate--so only about 2 classes so far have reaped the benefit of the actual program thats intact.

Many grads (Current and prior) find strong internships and careers in the industry and have won awards from a variety of festivals-- including Cannes.

But I think its just too young a school to have produced industry powerhouses. That should be changing very soon-- I'd guess within the next 5 years.

I'd wonder what the statistics were on the other major film schools as to how soon a program opened to how soon an alumni became famous? It would be interesting to find out for sure.

I hope this helps.

Bgak! I think you missed the intended tone, Jay. It was light and airy, like whispers and daydreams.

P.S. For the record, I have no affiliation with Chapman. I didn't apply to Chapman. I don't know anyone at Chapman. I have no interest in defending Chapman. I was just trying to answer your question.
