Hello,

Does someone knows a website or a movie on this site, about surrealisme?
Wel, i meen a movie that IS surrealisme, not about it, but a strange movie...

I must make one for school, but it seems like that surrealisme is very hard to shoot, because it is all special effects, people, objects its everyting strange...

And if i just shoot around the house, than its not surrealisme...

So i was hopening that someone on this website could help me, its a big help if i can just see a (simple) movie whitout much effects or expensive sets, so that i can get a idea on how i can do this thing.
(offcourse i wont copy it)

It shouldn't be too hard to shoot a surreal movie without special effects. You know what surrealism is, it's pretty much the reality of your dreams. The world seems perfectly normal, just off a bit. For your movie, you could have two people talking to each other, except they're carrying out seperate conversations. For example:

Guy1: So then the light turns green and I step on the gas...
Guy2: I know, she said the bananas were ripe and I believed her.
Guy1: Exactly, that's when the truck hit me out of no where.
Guy2: Yeah, I'm never talking to her again.

Ya know, something weird like that. Just try to keep the atmosphere dreamy. Shoot handheld to make it feel like it's floating. Add some weird noises that none of the actors respond to. Heck, put a guy in a monster suit and have all the actors happy to see a monster show up. It's not too hard, and if you go crazy with it, it might be one of the more fun assignments you'll have.

well..I wouldn't go too overboard on the abstractness and the 'floating camera' Wink
but look at some Salvador Dalí works to try to get some weird lighting effects/compositional/mise en scene ideas. Look at how things are organized and "borrow" those techniques. Good luck.
