As in the contest by sf.com kids for sf.com kids. Like Kyle Johnson:

i hate f****** games! NO GAMES!!!!!!!
Well, how bout a contest, it's like a game but not. Yeah? Good. What are the rules?
quote:
someone write a script and whoever wants to, can join in and film it in their own creative/artistic way, we then submit them to sf.com and watch them. Winner gets 2 dollars.
Cool, but what if no one does the contest?
quote:
if no one does this contest, I'm never coming back to this board again and I will hurt myself very bad and might die in a chainsaw accident.
Ha ha, it won't be an accident Kyle. So, you heard it kids. Bug your friends, grab your equipment and crew, and WIN THAT $2!!!

yeah ten minutes/pages whatever sounds bout right.
i think what we should do is have everyone who's in this decide what the movie GENRE should be, and maybe a simple plot outline, we then give that to some writers (like 3 or 4 or however many) and see what they come up with, we then choose which one we think is best and go from there.

I think we should establish a genre and a simple plot outline rather than construct a whole script because the outline would give greater room for ambiguity.
Ok. Here's what were going to do for this unofficial official contest...
1. People are going to write a 5 page script.
2. The scripts are submitted and I pick the best 5 scripts and then post them on the forums for all to read.
3. Everyone votes for the winning script.
4. Then filmmakers can make the winning script into a film, the films are submitted to the site, and people vote on the films.
5. Perhaps the site could charge an entry fee for the competition, therefore the winning screenwriter and the winning filmmaker could get a prize.
I'll formalize it soon after everyone discusses the ideas above.
But lets brainstorm on some ground-rules for the scripts:
1. 5 pages max. 2. Location and script must be easily accessible for anyone making the film. (i.e. no explosions or helicopters) 3. etc... your ideas here
That sounds really great Chris! Its good to have your support for this project.
I think we should allow some amount of deviation from the script (in terms of small dialog adjustments, setting/timing, nothing drastic) but not too much. We need to figure out what counts as too much.

i dig it., I think the timelimit should be between 5 and 10 min though, only cause its hard for me to make a 5 min movie (but maybe there's a challenge in that? ) I dunno, but I'm totally gonna do this, I like the "road" idea too.

I think 5 minutes is good. As Kyle said, its part of the challenge.
Also, I think that the films should all have original or royalty free music....that way I can compile a DVD of all the films when the competition is done.
Great. I'll work out all the official details over the weekend - but in the meantime keep sending in ideas.
I'm thinking that to submit films for the contest it would be the normal hosting fee plus a small fee to be determined from which a portion of it would go to the prize for the winner.
