sounds good to me!

I don't set out to make "art" I just try to make something with a beginning, middle, end, and some characters...the art seems to come during the process.

Those ideas sound great.

I'd be glad to pay that fee; and contributing part of the entry fee to the pot is a great way of raising enough for a prize.

That deadline sounds doable to me Smile

Is it possible to create a system which allows only members with several posts who signed up BEFORE the deadline to vote?

That sounds a little too complicated. Smile I'll figure something out.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's films!

Yeah, I don't know how much tinkering you can do with InfoPop, but I'm betting thats out of the realm of possibility Big Grin

Is this the final rules post? Or are we still in discussion mode?

No its definitely still up for discussion. Until I officially announce it - should be sometime next week.

But those are general ideas - so people can at least get started on their films.

The money seems a little high to me (i know if i dont want to pay dont enter). But when it was orignally concieved it was more for "the fun of it" than to create a legitimate contest with a grand prize winner and an all expenses paid vacation to Los Angeles. I'd probobly be more willing to fork over like 10-15. But thats jsut me and i'm a cheap bastard.

Well the amount hasn't been finalized yet.

It is still "for the fun of it" just with the added bonus of the cash pool prize.

The $10 is the normal hosting fee. The extra $5 would go to the added costs of organizing a contest. And the other $10 goes to the cash pool.

So it really is only $10-$15 more than the normal hosting fee. Smile

But once again - nothing is finalized yet. I appreciate your feedback.

I don't begrudge it AT ALL (even if its simply for your time), but I'm just curious as to what the extra cost of organizing the contest is.

I'd be fine paying that price; but if other people want it lower at the expense of the jackpot thats fine by me as well.

Cash pool? Dunno. Couldn't think of a better word for it.

Prize money? I'll figure it all out.

Well it's party a normal festival entry fee...but mainly it is to help pay for the minor changes that I'll need to make to the site to include a festival section.

The web isn't free unfortunatley. Smile

I'm still working on the details. I'm giving until the end of the week until I hear from one of the sponsors that I contacted, and if I don't hear anything by then...we'll start anyway.

How about the "student filmmaker film festival prize donation fee" instead of cash pool? Wink

Seriously though, "Prize Money Contribution"? "Bling Fund"?

I don't expect the money to be raised to be that much...perhaps 200 or less if 20 people submit a film. But that would be a nice amount of money for someone to win to help finance their next project! Smile

I'm also thinking of making a film for the fun of it. It wouldn't be part of the competition obviously, but I haven't made a film in forever.

Chris, do make a film. That would be cool.

S.F.F.F.P.D.F. seems fine for the name of that, er, thing... as long as Kyle's happy.

Hehe...I decided to try and make the most crazy name possible.

Actually...why don't we put Kyle in charge of that name. Smile Didn't he come up with the idea for this contest anyways?

No thanks, I'll pass. Anyway, I plan on submitting a film to this little contest. Jsut a quick question: Exactly how concentrated does the film have to be on the road? Would the judges downgrade the film if it weren't focused enough on this road?
