yes I read that.(point out the obvious) I was looking more for an answer from someone that actually is thinking about taking this project under there direction, like Chris... Its easy to go back and read anyones post, but I was trying to get at the other information in the questions I asked... and usually when I enter a fest, there is a set prize. $500, $1000... etc.. whatever it is, its already set. Its kind of a truthful thing. I guess if the normal fees go to Chris, and the spare $2.99 goes for the prize, its wothless. I declare Chris the winner! Make films for yourself, not for a small profit. If your art isnt for yourself, it isnt art at all. Im not saying this is a bad idea, im just saying the facts need to be a little more clear if you boys really want to dive in head first. www.tannershay.net

tanner, i think your a little confused. I dont think ANYONE is entering this for money, we came up with this idea just for a fun thing to do, hey, there's a prize too, thats just like a littler extra. I'm doing this because I wanna see what kinda films we can make with the same general idea (in this case, a movie about a road) sure competition is involved, but I think in the end we're all winners (not to sound cheesy) for the simple fact we got something made, some people are seeing it and being entertained (one of the points of film) and that you've most likely learned something from the making of your film. quote: I guess if the normal fees go to Chris, and the spare $2.99 goes for the prize, its wothless. chris is not "winning" anything. We are all thankfull to Chris for giving us the oppurtunity to have our film seen by a wide audience for VERY very cheap. it costs a lot to keep a site like this going.

Tanner, nobody's forcing you to enter; so you don't need to worry if you don't like the rules. BUT I'm sure you will be happy with them anyway. Remember Chris said quote: I'll formalize it soon after everyone discusses the ideas above.
So that means we're supposed to discuss ideas; and when the time comes he'll put up the details (like deadline; prize/fee; etc.) | PerryKroll.com | TRC | "If not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled." Wodehouse

I just hope the deadline is far enough away that I can enter! 12 months would be ideal | PerryKroll.com | TRC | "If not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled." Wodehouse

I'm tossing around June 1st as a deadline for people to submit their entries. I'm looking into the possibility of getting sponsors for the contest, otherwise, I'm thinking of doing a cash pool prize. That is - each filmmaker puts in a certain amount, say $10, for the cash prize that will go to the winner. I could even post the current prize pool amount as the contest goes on. The numbers I'm thinking of for the fee are as follows: 1. $10 normal hosting fee 2. $5 contest entry fee 3. $10 prize pool contribution Total: $25 per film. The extra $5 goes to the costs of putting the contest together. The extra $10 goes to a cash prize for the winner. The site doesn't really have the money lying around to put forward a $500 prize. But if enough people submit to the contest it could be a sizable prize. As for voting, I've also been tossing around the idea of having the filmmakers that submit vote on their favorite film. Obviously for this to work they cannot vote for their own film. The moderators and myself would also be able to vote on the winner, and our vote would probably weigh a bit more than the filmmakers - to prevent filmmakers trying to beat the system by having a bunch of their friends submit, and vote for one person, in order to try to get the money. The contest is still being formalized - nothing is set in stone yet. I'm glad that everyone is excited about it. I continue to welcome any feedback you may have. -Chris Studentfilms.com
