How about all the submissions have a special showcase on the frontpage. I also think the winner should NOT be based on voting, otherwise I could vote 100 times or get my friends to vote 100 times.
Whats the deadline? Maybe make it a summer project?

I would say we could have judges, but we'd need a lot of them. I think just voting would be fine, I honestly won't cheat or bring down someone else's film, and I dont think anyone else from here would do that, but then there might be someone who doesnt like your film and reviews it like 10 tens saying "its gay"
so i dunno.

Well the judging we can work out later. We could have two prizes...one that the judges choose...and one that the voters choose. A people's choice vs the Studentfilms.com pick.
I would suggest that the moderators and chris be the judges for the contest, but would that mean that we couldn't be a part of the contest? Because I really want to enter!
Chris, if the voting was done through the forums fraud would be possible... someone could make multiple usernames; though, they'd have to be fairly devious.
How about if the Mods can be judges, but they can't vote for their own films?
I really like the idea of the people's choice and the SF.com pick! Should we break each one down into a few categories too? Like Best Picture, best music, best cinematography, best editing, etc... or is that going overboard?

i honestly dont give a hoot about the competition part, I just wanna see what we all can do with the same outline. but I dont think that moderators could be judges, cause there's only like 5 of you guys, you CAN be judges, but I think if your making a film you shouldnt be a judge.
i dont know. DONT LISTEN TO ME IM CRAZY

so is there going to be a definite genre? also, i think people who don't want to be in the contest should be the judges. i also think that just, a road, is a little vague, i mean yeah there's a lot you can do with that, but it will make extremely hard for the judges to , well, judge. It would be easier if there was an actual script, but then it wouldn't make for a very interesting DVD. so whatever, i don't care, just thought i'd share my thoughts.
I don't set out to make "art" I just try to make something with a beginning, middle, end, and some characters...the art seems to come during the process.

well it would be very difficult to do one script and everyone do their own version, because there might be something in the script that might be difficult to film, like a certain location, etc.

Hey, I really like the entire SF.com competition idea... But I agree with whoever said it would be too hard to just go with a 'road'. Why don't we just give a plot... And go from there. That way the movies can be different... Everyone can have different locations, etc. Then, if you made a DVD of them the movies would all be similar, yet distinct. I hope this competition thing goes all the way forward because I plan to enter. :-D --Will

I don't know if I will be able to make a film. I have a lot of other projects that I have to be working on right now. So, if I am unable to make one, I'd definitely want to participate by judging.
so as i said before, is there going to be a specific genre to the films, it would definitly help the judging, since they can't judge one better because they like the genre better. i also think that there would have to be some kind of criteria for the judges to use. and as a question, will bad video quality be counted off, because i only have a one ccd camcorder. anyways, it sounds really fun! i'm looking forward to putting together a film for it.

how centered does the movie have to be around a road? and what will the criteria be? just wondering, i like to have all the information, which i'm sure can be annoying sometimes.
