Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez had one of the best 1/2 of an action crime movie I have ever seen. Then terribly, the movie is over at the best part, Salma Hayek.

To say I hate zombie movies is not enough. Zombies ruined the best 1/2 of a movie I have seen in a while. I know Tarantino has one sick mind, but what the hell was he thinking.

Grr. Mabye they can make a new movie without zombies after the salma hayek scene.
Yes, how nice. But ZOMBIE MOVIES SUCK!

The problem with Zombie movies is that they have been done to death (no pun intended), with little or no reinvention. So many just keep making cheesey remakes, of already cheesey films. I love what Romero did, but things kind of went down hill from there, with few signs of improvment.
I recently had the opportunity to go on the set of a Zombie film shooting around here. I was intrested, for two reasons.
One: This was a sequel, to a film these guys had already made, and sold for a descent profit. Success is success. I wanted to see what they were doing right.
Two: I know two brothers working on a very cool Zombie epic, so I thought they could learn from my experience on this set. (more on them in a bit)
So I go to the set. Its at a large fancy hotel, supposedly full of zombies (?) I bring my XL1 to shoot BTS with. Turns out, their shooting the flick on an XL1 (cool). I see no zombies, because they are in make up getting ready. The film makers sit around, and talk about how much they know, and how great their films are (really, I mean it) I smile and nod. Then, finally, the zombies emerge. These are the lamest looking zombies I have ever seen in my life. It was green, "Wicked witch of the west" style.
I tried to tell them about the methods used by these friends of mine, but they werent interested. They then started shooting this thing like a bunch of highschool kids. It looked awful. No lighting, nothing. hey were simply trying to whip out some crap they could quickly re sell. As a result, I left.
All it really did was make me appreciate what those friends of mine were doing. They are trying to take an un original idea, and give it an original spin. I recomened, you attempt the same. In trying to help you accomplish this, i will give you their make up secret.
They use pancake mix. Yep, pancake mix. They mix it up, and then add marshmallow fluff (aka: melted marshmallows.) which gives it some pliability. Put it on the face, and hands liberally, and allow it to dry. The result is cracking, rotting, flesh. Toss on some fake blood, maybe some darker makeup for shadowing under the eyes, even dirt, and there you go. Experiment with it, and try to be original. Otherwise, good luck.

What the hell are you talking about?? There were NO zombies in Dusk till Dawn. None! Those were vampires. Did you even watch that movie, or were you just in it to see Salmas cans? If so, rent "Desperado" and rewind the candle light love scene over, and OVER again. "D. till D." was a fantastic crime/horror. Great visuals, fantastic dialouge. Go watch a zombie movie, then weigh in with your opinion on zombie movies. Just a sugestions. An educated opinion is taken alot more seriously than an un educated one.

The movie your thinking of is called Four Rooms(1995), not Dusk till Dawn. It was directed by Robert Rodriguez, QT, and 2 other new directors. I haven't seen it, but thats all I know.

Actually Screenwritter, no. He is reffering to "Dusk Till Dawn", although the rest of your info is correct. "Four Rooms" was the first collabaration of these two, but featured 4 different stories, written by the 4 different directors, and directed by each. They had little to no contact with each other, besides connecting the stories, and it had no Zombies (witches though). It did feature Salma, though few realize it (she was the dancing girl on the "Trouble Makers" stories T.V. set.)Good little movie. Entertaining enough, and a cool concept. I recommend.
"Dusk till Dawn" was wriiten By Quentin, based on a concebt by Robert Kurtzman of KNB effects. (who did the sfx for "D.T.D." BTW) so, he is thinking of the right flick, but there just isnt even the idea of zombies in it. Seems he checked out to early.

I cried reading that, that was beautiful. But in response to the question the only zombie movie that I could ever watch was the 1968 Night of The Living Dead. Then it was still creepy because it was new. Granted there was the idiotic violence but you could tell there was some coherent thought behind it. After that it was just a producer going "ALRIGHT!HOW MUCH BLOOD CAN WE THROW IN THERE?What do you mean the human body only has 12 pints of blood, I NEED GALLON BUCKETS DOWN HERE!"

How was I supposed to know it was a guy in a suit?Besides, anyone willing to wear a Mickey Mouse suit deserves to get hit by a car...that and my brakes failed, kind of.

I recently wrote a short film involving zombies called All Your Fault, which is hopefully going into production after winter. As others have mentioned, the zombie genre has been done to death, so I tried something new, but still combined the parts of zombie movies that people are familiar with.

I can't get into plot details, as I don't want my script getting ripped off, but I will say that I am not going for the green skinned zombies. Instead, I'm going for the deep sunk-in eyes, pasty white flesh, and purple lips look. Not only will it not be as cheesy looking, but it'll save a lot on the makeup budget. Wink

I've got a zombie film thats hoped to be filmed later in the year. Its going to be filmed in black and white and will be really bad looking. We're trying to make it seem like it was made 50 years ago, which can be a good excuse for poor effects.

I'm not sure if this post has anything to do with the topic.

I apologise.
