I was wondering if anyone here has tried building a rig that allows the face frontal shots of characters as they are moving, like what was done in Requiem for a Dream... Does anybody have any ideas on how to achieve these shots?

I know what you are talking about. They did it in Pi too. And on that show "Fear" on MTV. The problem is....I forget what that rig is called. I think you should try using the search feature on the boards (at the blue toolbar), because that topic has been discussed before, I know.

Sorry. I feel I really haven't been too helpful on this, but I was kind of in a hurry, and just wanted to let you know about the "Find" option if you didn't already know about it.

I think Joren told me a long time ago that it's called a "doggie cam".

Aronofsky (sp) talks abuot how he did this on the directors commentary for Reqium. Another way to do it would be use a glidecam type device and have the talent hold it and run, it will produce a similar effect. He gave it some special name that escapes me at the moment.

They didnt use helmet cams for reqium as those are 1ccd crapola cameras. They strapped their 35mill (or was it 16?) onto this rig that they made.

I know someone who made a homemade rig to get this kind of shot. He took an old backpack and mounted a camera on it by fitting a box into the backpack and using a light metal frame upon which to put the camera. The talent then wore the backpack on their front and the shots looked great! He made the thing in less than an hour and with no money. I'm sure you could do that.
