I recently blew all my money on upgrading my computer for post-production. Now I have no $$$ to spend on a post-production editor. Please do not leave me with the amateur "Pinnacle Studio". It's a disgrace to post-production. Thanks.

okay??? Did you mean to ask for recommendations of cheap NLEs? or were you just sharing your story so others don't make the same mistake? imove is free if you upgraded to a mac. Or, Avid makes a free NLE for both mac os x and windoze XP.

::shudder:: Pinnacle Studio...what a piece of crap.

I say, go Vegas or go home. Get Sony Vegas, it's easy, it's got excellent plugins for both video and audio, and it's finding quite a niche. Many FCP and iMovie users are seeing it at conventions and moving to it. Its main problem is people not giving it a chance, so download a fully functional 30 day demo. Its at Sony's site, I just don't know the URL. Put "Sony Vegas 5" in Google and you'll get it.

I get the feeling that you're asking for someone to give you software, Stuart. I would remind you that it's illegal and you're therefore forbidden from using this forum as a medium to obtain it. If I am right and that is what you want, then I will have to close this topic and you'll have to break the law on your own.

I do hope I'm wrong, though.

Whether poeple believe me or not I am not looking for pirated software. I am against that just as much as the next guy. Thank you for suggesting the free avid. I think I'll check that out. I may also purchase vegas this christmas.

the free avid (in god honest truthfulness) is a piece of crap. AVID itself isn't bad, but the free version is just a joke.

iMovie is probably the best free editing software there is. I've messed around with it and it's definitely usable.

agreed. avid free dv isnt too great, but if you want to get familiar with the interface of avid xpress, and xpress pro.. then it might be a good tool to learn on for free...

im an avid guy, so ill bark avid all day long. but imovie, if you are on mac, is still an awesome program if used right...

Grr...I love Pinnacle Studio 9 PLUS+. It has all the necessities: A/B Editing, Chroma Key, PIP, an assload of transitions (although I almost never stray from Dissolve or Fade)
