Has anyone been watching ON THE LOT? If so, does anyone know how that guy Zach does his special effects?

The first episode he had hangers stop in the air and freeze and people frozen in mid air while other actors walked by them.

Or the one where the girl takes the sun out of the sky and is holding it.

He completed these effects in days and sometimes hours. Was wondering if anyone knew how he did it? Software, technique, etc...

Thanks a lot

Well for the sun, it was obviously just a green ball and he used a green screen effect. For the hangers I'm sure it was a similar effect, except not a green screen. He probably just went into the frame where he wanted them to freeze and cut them out, then put them over the moving shot.

I'm not sure what prgram he uses, but I saw most of them using Macs to edit in the first few episodes. I don't know if those were provided or if they were their own, but perhaps they provide Macs for each filmmaker and they put their own prgrams on? Or they all use the same programs. I'm really not sure.

Zach is probably going to win though! Big Grin
Let's get Kenny, Mateen, and the rest of the girls off the show, though. The girls, unfortunately, aren't that great (except the girl's horror short last week) and Kenny and Mateen (especiall Mateen's "horror" short) suck big time.

I agree Zach is by far the best director on the show and hopefully will win.

I'm still unsure of how he did the hangers and people. He cut them out and pasted them into each frame at the exact spot each time? or is there an easier way?

Ohhh no no no haha.
I thought the tree one was very well done VISUALLY, but not story wise.
I was referring to the one during Horror week where the couple goes into the attic of the house they're looking to buy and a ghost appears to the pregnant woman. That was really good, imo.

I thought the cinematography sucked in the tree one too. It was just all around sucky. Oh the shame. The shame. Why NYU grad? Why?

I feel the same about the NYU grad girl. So sad for her. How did this happen after her four or so years of paying tuition at NYU?

It appears all of the ladies have now been booted from the show...

And that tree thing just killed me from the concept stage:

"It's a horror movie from the perspective of a tree"

As a comedy it might have worked!

Zach's from Vancouver isn't he? I like this how but I hate the girl host she's annoying. The only thing I don't liek about this show and all other reality talent shows is that, I dunno just seems like all that overnight fame **** doesn't seem as real as liek working your way up, writing movies and through all those phases until that one day you make that one movie that gets you on the map... just a thought.

Haha exactly what I said in my first post in this thread has finally happened!
All of the girl + Mateen + Kenny got kicked off! Big Grin

Now we can wait for it to come down to Zach and someone else (hopefully Jason), and then Zach will win! :]
