  • Adobe Creative Suite (PS and Illustrator mainly)
  • FCP3
  • the Amazing Slowdowner
  • Garage Band
  • Adobe After Effects
  • Carrara Studio 2

Trey's Must Haves:
1: AVIsynth - You have to have this for any video processing. I have scripts that make unbelievable 24p from 60i.

2: VirtualDub Mod - use with #1. Also is indespensible for re-compressing or cutting up clips.

3: Vegas - Best (online)Editor Ever. Won't do as much as an Avid, but you will work WAAAAAY faster.

4: HuffYuv - Kickass losless compressor

5: Morgan MJPEG - I process all my video in 4:2:2 after a sweet conversion in avisynth, so I can't go back to MiniDV.

6: The GIMP - Awesome photo editor and it costs about $800 less than photoshop. (it's free for the slow of you out there)

7: Fruity Loops - If you have to ask, you will never know.

8: Adobe Audition (CoolEdit Pro) - Best audio editor available. My first, my last, my everything.

9: Nuendo - Best audio production and mixing ever. I want to bear it's child.

10: Media Player Classic - After this one, you will forget completely that microsoft made a media player once....

11: Blender - Like #s 1,2,4,and 6, I can't believe they give this stuff away!

12: OpenOffice - Another freebie, freakin' sweet office suite.

13: oggdropXPd - Convert wav's to ogg files. MP-what?????

14: ExactAudioCopy - You can't have that awesome Echo and the Bunnymen track over your chase scene have clicks and pops in it.

And that concludes the list of software I cannot live without. I would give you links to all the software, but if I had to find them you can at least google them (and I'm a lazy bastard). Try out the free ones (1,2,4,6,11,12,13,14). It won't cost you anythign and you will be mondo happy.

Till next time kiddies.....
Trey

actually, if its $800 less than Photoshop then they must pay you $151 to use it Big Grin

nah, GIMP is cool for those who can't get PS yet, but compared to the real thing it is really really slow and clumsy.

RoughDraft - nice freeware script writing program.

Blender - A nice freeware 3D animator.

Adobe Photoshop - The best photoediting program.

Adobe Premiere Pro - Good editor

WordWeb - Free dictionary that works with RoughDraft

I don't really use that many programs I guess, oh well.

After Effects 6 Production Bundle
FCP4 HD
iMovie (good for importing, actually, if you're as lazy as me)
GarageBand (I've used Soundtrack briefly, but not for anything serious - I mostly record with live instruments, so Soundtrack's synth-based approach is less appealing)

I write scripts in Word, as shameful as that is. I hate Microsoft and Word is an unstable, bloated, sloppy piece of crapware, but I'm too lazy to download an alternative (probably opensource) text editor.
