I've decided to see every movie posted above which I haven't already seen, in the next few months. I say posted above, because one never knows what may lie beneath. Mine is so hard to put into any sort of order (and it changes all the time), so let me try this. Each section is in no particular order. Über high on the list: 12 Monkeys Children of Men The Lord of the Rings Casino Royale Pretty high on the list: Hot Fuzz The Matrix Star Wars Lower on the top ten: Run Lola Run The Eye Unbreakable | PerryKroll.com | TRC | "If not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled." Cinematical: Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli are amazing - if I didn't try to vary my list, half the films on it would probably be Miyazaki's. My Neighbor Totoro, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Spirited Away, Laputa: Castle in the Sky, Porco Rosso and of course Pincess Mononoke are all must-sees. If I could I'd tack on to my list The Shawshank Redemption Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind Close Encounters of the Third Kind

I'll try to say why some of those are in my favorite or at least comment them. There is only one I can give a position to. The rest is not in order.
1. Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb
The funniest movie I have ever seen. EVER. It also cleverly combines intelligent message and good laugh.
The Thing Holy jesus do I love this movie. Why? The gore maybe...but I'm no fan of gore for the fun of gore. This one of this film that succeded to use paranoia at its best. A merciless film, genuinly violent and maybe not fit for everyone (although I think most people would at least like it if not love).
American psycho Awesome performence by Christian Bale. The kind of black humor I'm a fan of.
Ben-Hur A biblical epic that impressed my dad very much. He just transmitted its love of this film to me.
A clockwork orange Ah! Those awesome, awesome nasty ending that depict society so well.
Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles I don't know if I should put it in my top ten...Still, it's one of those film I've seen 10 times or so. It's probably only because of Lestat tough. I do love those sadistic bastard that dance with death people on a nice music.
Ladri di biciclette
Night and Fog A weird, weird documentary about the Holocaust. But at the time of its production, people didn't fully realised what they were filming and what those camp were about. It brings Auschwitz in your TV.
War and Peace (the whole serie by Bondarchuck) Epic! Epic! The most impressive and costly production of all time. But there is more to it than money and thousand of extras. The duel scene, the party scene, the ball scene, yes the battle scenes, the plundering of Moscow...7 really well used hour.

I'm typing this with the first movies that pop into my mind. In no particular order: LOTR Trilogy (I'll cheat with that one too ) Empire Strikes Back Raiders of the Lost Ark Serenity Life is Beautiful Aliens Edward Scissorhands The Big Lebowski Love Actually Dead Poet's Society The last three are a little iffy; like everyone else, depending on my mood, those three may get jostled around (or even off the list). I remember being a kid and saying that "Masters of the Universe" (the live action movie) was my favorite movie ever. Oh, how times have changed...

Im not a fan of anime at all, but the creativity and imagination in Howls Moving Castle is very inspiring. I love how it starts out with a very realistic and familiar setting and all of a sudden these crazy fantasy elements get thrust into the story without warning . It took me by surprise. Not quite as good as Spirited Away though, in my opinion. I find it interesting that Christian Bale voices Howl. Hehe. Kind of unexpected.

quote: I apparently have to watch 12 Monkeys again, because I saw it on TV in a crappy, cut up version and didn't really get a feel for it.
Oh, and Hot Fuzz was that good? Looks like I'm going to HAVE to see it now!
Every time I watch 12 Monkeys I see how flawed it is, and then three days later, I love it again. Hot Fuzz was just sooo much fun. I saw it with the ideal audience (100% film students - advance screening) and the director and two actors were there, so I'm inclined to be biased more toward "best movie ever" that is normal, but yes, it's awesome. | PerryKroll.com | TRC | "If not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled."
