email me if u want about this problem at PoorlyDrawnCircle@yahoo.com
i got it 3-5 years ago. its not terribly old. the message gets more frequent, but right now it wont stop coming up. it happens sometimes when i turn the camera on, and other times when i try to press a button to make it function (ie, PLAY, or RECORD.. etc..) i know other people with this problem, nobody seems to have a solution.
I had this problem to with my digi8, I am not sure exactly what screwed up on it, but it kept coming up and then it wouldn't eject etc.. it may have something to do with Moisture or dew on the camera heads or tape itself.
I'd take it in and get it looked at before you **** it up like I did with mine!

My dad just had a similar problem with his camera. c:31:23 didn't keep popping up, but some kind of symbol did. Eventually, the thing wouldn't even eject tapes right, and we took it to get fixed. They said some of the parts inside were affected due to drastic changes in the climate around the camera (it went from hot to cold very fast). This caused things to malfunction. If I were you, don't force any of the parts to do anything, and get it checked out as Irony is a Dead Scene stated. Hurry before other things go wrong.

the problem according to error message interpretation key, and a little examination has led me to determine that one of the two reels that turn the tape is not working. this occurs when i close the part of the camera where i put the tape in. its called the "S reel" but i dont know why. maybe the reason this is occuring is because of climate changes. i mean, we did just get a new humidifyer installed, but seriously too many people i know have had this problem (even though it worked itself out on their cams)for this to be a repair worth paying for. The worst part was, i was right at the beginning of filming an event as a paying gig, when the error message hit. luckily after five minutes it went away, but it wont now. this is BS, they should have fixed this problem before selling these cameras, let alone let this be a problem on more than just one of their products! (other people with different types of sony camcorders have complained about this problem too.) sorry for being so longwinded.
so i sent it in for repairs. i talked to the store manager guy and he said to bring it in, and they will either repair it or trade it in for cash so i can get a new one. unfortunately they ARE able to fix it. i was hoping to get a new cam. What are some good cams for 2000 bucks and under for non-new amatuer filmmaker? i know a lot about filming but not about cameras.
