I want to use a score from batman begins in my movie. I plan to possibly submit it to film festivals and to colleges. If I cite the score do I still have a problem?

If you use music that you do not have the legal rights to, that pretty much disqualifies you from any competition or festival, regardless of whether you cite it or not. However, there are plenty of very talented student composers around that could provide you with a great (and free) score.

This question does come up a lot...it reminds me of my idea to start compiling a FAQ section for the website. And now that I actually have some free time to work on a project, I may actually do it Smile

No, you can't use any copywritten music without a written consent from the music owner... and that's gonna cost you a licensing fee.

Just compose your own music. It's fun.

If its for an assignment in a college class it depends on the professor.

Some professors don't care if you use copywritten music while some require you to compose it yourself.
