I am looking to make a short 5-6 sec intro for an upcoming film that shows our production team name. I saw one that I thought was simple, but well done on this film

Can anyone advise me as to how they did this or the best way to accomplish something like this. I was assuming Adobe After Effects, but any help or info would be appreciated.

Thanks.

You can do that intro with Photoshop and your video editor.

Or aftereffects. It looks like they took a picture of a smashed tomato, motion blurred it as it came in from the right then unblurred it when the little squish noise sounds out to make it look like it came to a sudden stop.

Then they just got some simple black lines and had them come in from different directions (you just key frame them outside of frame then key frame them in their final positions then the program will tween (animate) between the two points, and depending how far apart you put you key frames is how fast the lines will move.

Then they just cut to a picture of the smashed tomato with on a black background when the heavy thud sound rings out.

The noises they put in there is what really sells all the edits they stick in there. Your mind sees fast motions and hears sounds and fills in the rest.

hey guys!
demis, the tomatopatch films guy here...

i used photoshop and final cut to do this intro logo. i think the important part was the sounds used - turn your speakers off and it looks alot less effective.

RFranco - very close breakdown really. i combined a couple of tomato pics to make the smashed tomato, and created 3 different versions - blurred on white bg, splattered, and the final splattered with colour correction.

once they were done in photoshop, the rest was laid up in final cut : the photo layers with some motion/resize keyframes added. next, a bunch of 'color' layers. i.e. the lines were just 'cropped' mattes, resized and animated with keyframes, and then a couple of opacity layers to create the white 'flash' when it splats. couple of other opacity changes, the text layer (animated) and some subtle motion blurring to finish it...

took about an hour all up once i'd found the right sound effects.

hanser21 let me know how you go or if you need any pointers - i'm a big fan of animated logos... Smile

cheers
demis
