I am planning to go to NYFA for class starting this September. Unfortunately I am still in Indonesia and cant possibly fly up there now to see both campuses before deciding.

If anybody know, the good and bad values of both campuses please help me. Which has better facilities, equipments, atmosphere, and lecturers. I cant seem to find pictures for the campus in Universal neither, which is very weird. Well, please help me. Open to any opinions. Thanks a zillion!

Question:
NYFA NYC or Universal?

Choices:
NYC
Universal

I'd say LA! Closer to the action!

I attended NYFA in both locations. I took the Advanced Filmmaking 6 week course in LA summer '06 and NY summer '07.

They both have their pros and cons. LA is closer to the action - you are right there in Hollywood, walk the famous Back Lot (and shoot there), live in really nice apartments where many budding actors live, and truly get the Hollywood experience.

The New York program is in Union Square in a large building, and there were multiple housing arrangements and I can speak to the Upper West Side one. The NY program gives you much more independance, because the subway allows you to go anywhere anytime. The actual housing is much, much better in LA though.

Here's what you need to consider: Are you and LA or NY person?

LA wins on...
-Housing
-Hollywood style experience

NY wins on...
-Independance
-NY energy
-Also nightime activies (i.e. movies, touring, etc.)

My verdict: NY was an overall better experience.

I don't know if this helps you at all, being in Indonesia, but the New York Film Academy just opened a full time campus in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Im not sure how it stacks up the NYC location (which I attended) or the LA campus (which I havent attended), but it might make your logistics easier.

Hey there Raphel, I'm also coming to NYFA this september. I'll be attending it in NYC. Where have you decided to attend yours?

And since you've been at it for longer, could you please tell me what you've got planned out for housing?

Help would be much appreciated. Looking forward to seeing you in NYC if you choose it.

I did LA in 2003. Had a pretty good time, I'd recommend it.
